The book is a series of spiritual awareness classes on the Living Light philosophy that were given through the mediumship of Richard P. Goodwin. The classes have been carefully transcribed from recordings of those classes and reveal the laws the govern life. The foundation of the teachings is personal responsibility, which states that we are responsible for all our experiences. By making the effort to apply the laws revealed in these teachings we will experience greater health, wealth, and happiness. submitted by - Russell Fitzgerald
Social and cultural factors, as well as medical ones, help to shape the way we understand and react to diseases. In the case of a disease associated with sex, such factors figure especially large in its history. For example, moral and religious views influence almost everything connected with sex, including sexually transmitted diseases. Syphilis thus provides an excellent case study to help understand the history of disease in a broader human context. This book covers the history of syphilis in America, from Colonial times to the present, as well as laying bare the origins and spread of the disease in Europe. Several themes explored in the book illustrate ways in which non-medical factors influence our views of a disease and our reaction to it, and have a continuing relevance for public health today. One of these themes is the tendency to focus blame for the spread of a disease on a particular group (e.g., women, blacks, sinners). The balance between protecting the rights of individuals and protecting the public health, in issues such as whether to quarantine the infected and whether to require mandatory testing for the disease, is another theme. A third theme is the persistent reluctance of many Americans to discuss venereal disease openly because it involves sex, a subject that we are often not comfortable talking about. I Wanna Tell You My Story" is about the power of the human spirit, using non-fiction prose and poetry, the author expresses her true feelings. Along the way, she caught glimpses of her true glory. The author shares with us her experiences of growing up in abject poverty surrounded by an atmosphere of fear and repression. This leads to many years of living with shame, pain, and humiliation. The story starts in the segregated south in the 1950's with a charismatic, share-cropping, preacher father who ruled his family with an iron fist. His motto was "spare the rod and spoil the child." It wasn't called abuse when she was growing up, it was called strict discipline. Growing up she said she would never treat anyone like this; to make people feel small. Even though she swore to herself that she would never be like her father, in many ways she became her father. It was this realization that led to a breakdown, which later became a breakthrough. Cornelia has a gift, not given to ordinary people. There is something in her book, "I Wanna Tell You My Story" for everyone. It is inspiring.it gets you up and keeps you going. It is motivational..it takes you places you thought you never would go. It is serious.it focuses on issues to be addressed. It is humorous.it makes you laugh out loud and keeps your life in perspective. submitted by - Cornelia McDonald
Just like a thoroughbred horse GOD is unbelievably strong yet supremely gentle. HE is amazingly powerful, yet touchingly loving. HE is the Giver of Life, the LORD of Nature, and the GOD of all Creation, the Great Redeemer, and the Author of Salvation. NO ONE is greater, and certainly no one is mightier than HE! By using his expertise with horses to teach us about GOD’s principles of “Submission to a Master”, in a very easy-to-comprehend way, Jim explains how the mastery of a big and powerful, wild and un-tamed horse is broken into, and how GOD takes us in the palm of HIS mighty and tender hands and slowly but surely begins to melt us, mould us, shape us, discipline and disciple us for HIS glory! submitted by - Daniele Luciano Moskal
Most of us are unaware of the fragile inter-dependent systems that support our housing infrastructure. We take for granted the flip of a light switch, the turning of a faucet, the casual flush of a toilet, and the comforting roar of a basement gas furnace. However, all of that convenience depends on hundreds of thousands of miles of aging gas, water, and sewer pipelines inter connected to a fragile and undercapitalized national electrical grid fed by fossil fuels that are rapidly approaching the point of peak production. Once these resources “PEAK”, we will all be forced to adjust to their relentless and irreversible decline. Chill in the Living Room, describes our fragile housing infrastructure in detail and offers homeowners real world strategies that they can use to prepare for the coming painful transition from a fossil fuel dependent world to a more sustainable and renewable energy future. submitted by - John Van Doren
